Dr. Hashayekh (Dr.Hanan )is an experienced interior design professional and academic with over five years in the industry and more than 10 years in academia, primarily in Dubai,UAE. She has worked on diverse projects, including residential renovations, commercial spaces like restaurants and hotel lobbies, and government buildings such as the Civil Defense headquarters in Ajman ,also led the renovation of the Federal National Council building in Abu Dhabi, UAE . Her extensive portfolio demonstrates a commitment to enhancing the built environment through innovative design solutions.
In her academic career, Dr. Hashayekh has taught at Ajman University, Sharjah University, and the American University in the Emirates (AUE), where she supported initiatives like the Furniture Design Student Exhibition. She also won the Innovator 2016 competition in Abu Dhabi, UAE, for her "Psychedelia Seating Design" project . Since January 2024, she has been teaching at Eastern Michigan University (EMU).
Dr. Hanan Hashayekh's research interests center on sustainability in interior design, with a particular focus on biomimicry, indoor air quality, human health, environmental quality, sustainable lighting strategies, and the integration of renewable energy into interior spaces. This reflects her commitment to creating innovative, health-conscious, and eco-friendly design solutions.
