Dr. Ahmed joined Eastern Michigan University in the Fall of 2008. Before joining Eastern he worked for nine years for Wayne State University (WSU) as a research associate. Dr. Ahmed holds a Ph.D. from WSU in the area of industrial engineering. He also holds BE (mechanical), MS (mechanical) and MS (manufacturing) degrees. Dr. Ahmed has 20 years of teaching experience and has taught courses in engineering management, business information system and mechanical, manufacturing, and industrial engineering. Since 1998, he has been working on online learning management systems and has worked on all major learning management systems. Dr. Ahmed has been the co-principal investigator on three major NIST's APT grants to WSU from 1995–2002 and has served as the subject matter expert for NSF Greenfield Coalition, from 2002–2007. Dr. Ahmed has worked with GM, Chrysler and Ford as a consultant in development of new product design, process improvement and knowledge management. On a personal note, Dr. Ahmed enjoys playing cricket and producing short movies.
