Mr. Scott L. Ward was born in Blue Island Illinois and enlisted in the United States Army on 8
February 1986 as a 76C-Equipment Records and Parts Specialist. He attended One Station Unit
Training (Basic Combat Training) at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and Advanced Individual
Training(AIT) at Fort Lee, Virginia. He served honorably for more than 35 years and retired from the
active component at Fort Lee, Virginia in 2021 as the rank of Sergeant Major (SGM). Mr. Ward
began his second career as a Department of the Army Civilian, and has been working exclusively
with the United States Army Cadet Command at Eastern Michigan University Reserve Officer’s
Training Corps as Supply Technician since 2022.
Mr. Ward served in numerous leadership positions throughout his military career, to include; Squad
Leader, Section Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Operations Sergeant, First Sergeant, Senior Instructor
Senior Supply Supervisor and United States Army Reserve Sergeant Major at Combined Arms
Support Command (CASCOM).
Mr. Ward’s military and civilian education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course,
Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Course, Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers Course, Battle
Staff, Army Basic Instructor Course, Small Group Instructor Course, First Sergeant Course, Senior
Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Course, and Sergeant Majors Academy Course. Mr.
Ward civilian education includes an associate degree in Liberal Arts from Coastline Community
College and a Bachelor's in Science at Excelsior University.
Mr. Ward’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit Medal, Meritorious Service Medal
(30LC), Army Commendation Medal (20LC), Army Achievement Medal (40LC), Army Good Conduct
Medal (5th award), Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (30LC), National Defense

Mr. Ward has been married for 14 years, him and his wife have blended family of 5 children and 2
Grandsons.
