EMU Aviation's Program is celebrating 30 years of educating the future of aviation this year. There will be free parking on site for the event. EMU is also celebrating its 100th Homecoming anniversary that same day! Since the anniversary party will be in earlier in the afternoon and the homecoming game will commence later that evening, those interested in attending will be able to watch the game in a special section with other EMU Aviation Alumni. Tickets for the game will be provided to those interested in attending at a later date.

The primary goals for this event are to help raise monies for EMU's Aviation Scholarship fund, and connect with alumni, aviation organizations, and industry leaders. The event will be semi-formal in nature and consist of a keynote presentation, a status report of our program, a memoriam to recognize those individuals who were instrumental in our program, but are no longer with us, a silent auction, and raffle. Refreshments and heavy appetizers will be provided during the entire event. Please note that any and all funds raised from the proceeds from this event will be allocated towards EMU Aviation scholarships to benefit aspiring aviators.

There are two scholarship funds in which we are creating with the proceeds from this event. The first is an endowed scholarship named in honor of the late Lt. Colonel Charles S. Kettles, who retired from the U.S. Army. Lt. Colonel Kettles was instrumental in the creation of our Aviation program 30 years ago and this scholarship serves as a testament to his dedication. The other scholarship is an expendable scholarship that would be awarded yearly to qualified aviation students by the Fall 2021.

Additionally, there will be a silent auction and a raffle held during the event; raffle tickets will be prior to and during the event. The silent auction and raffle will consist of items including, but not limited to, the following: Thunder Over Michigan Airshow tickets, aviation-based Swag Bags, and more! (Photo of Lt. Colonel Charles S. Kettles)

Tickets for this event will be available in August 2020, at a suggested donation price of $25/ticket. There will be a link included on this page in July 2020, once tickets are available so attendees can RSVP. This will allow EMU Aviation leadership to obtain an accurate headcount for food and logistical purposes.

If you have any questions about the event, where or how to send sponsorship/donations, or concerns in general, please reach out to either Dr. Jerard E. Delaney, II, aviation program coordinator at [email protected] or Lisa Comben, director of development, Corporate and Foundation Relations at [email protected].
