Flight Training Provider

Aviation students enrolled in Aviation Flight Technology must use our approved flight provider Crosswinds Aviation. EMU has a formal contracted partnership in flight training with Crosswinds Aviation, which was approved by the Regents of Eastern Michigan University.

In order to best serve our students we offer four different locations to fly from:

• Willow Run Airport (KYIP) at Ypsilanti,
• Livingston County Spencer J Hardy Airport (KOZW) at Howell,
• Oakland County International Airport (KPTK) at Pontiac, and
• Bishop International Airport (KFNT) at Flint

Note: These costs also do not include tuition or books at EMU.

Checklist before Takeoff

  1. Make sure that you've read and understood Crosswinds Aviation policies and procedures.
  2. If you have not already, please create a Flight Schedule Pro account here.
  3. Complete the Client Information Form
  4. Complete the Flight School Agreement
  5. Complete the Client Release of Liability
  6. Send Additional Required Documents
  7. Complete the Tire Damage Quiz (This is only required if you are a licensed pilot, or current endorsed solo student with Crosswinds Aviation, and would like to rent our aircraft.)
  8. If you are a new student with us, watch this orientation video on YouTube to learn how to use our system for Billing, Curriculum and Scheduling your lessons.
  9. If you are starting to work on an FAA rating with us, schedule your first lesson and plan to purchase supply kit at your first lesson. This kit will include all study materials and syllabus. Your "My Training" tab will not show up in Flight Schedule Pro until you have purchased the kit and been enrolled in the course syllabus.

• Students are required to purchase insurance to cover any costs of accidents/incidents.
• Students are responsible for choosing their flight instructors;they may change instructors at any time. You should visit the provider prior to the beginning of classes in order to make an informed decision. Students can access the Crosswinds Aviation Online Scheduler to schedule their flight training activities.
