Designing the Future of Communication
Communication Technology is the process of designing, constructing, managing, and maintaining communication technologies, i.e., print, video, and digital media, the internet, wireless networks, cell phones, and other communication mediums.
The Bachelor of Science in Communication Technology is an interdisciplinary major offered by the School of Visual and Built Environments and the Department of Communication and Theatre Arts.
Knowledgeable instructors and an active industry advisory committee comprised of experienced professionals in the communication technology industry provide guidance and continually revise and update the curriculum.
An Interdisciplinary Approach
The Communication Technology major includes coursework in:
- Media and web production
- Transmission systems
- Computer programming
- Graphic and print applications
- Information management
- Communication theory and practice
- Business and investment
- Management courses.
No minor is required; however, business-related courses provide a path for eventual mid-management level careers.
