IPE Passport Program

The College of Health and Human Services is committed to providing learning opportunities for our students that connect disciplines, promote teamwork, foster mutual understanding and advance health for individuals and populations through its Interprofessional Education (IPE) Initiative. By definition, "Interprofessional Education occurs when two or more professions learn with, from and about each other to improve collaboration and the quality of care" (Center for the Advancement of Interprofessional Education, 2002).

In order to offer coordinated and intentional IPE learning opportunities to our students, CHHS has developed the IPE Passport Program. The IPE Passport Program will allow students to attend IPE-designated events to collect a stamp on their “passport” as they work towards a certificate of participation from the Dean’s office for their professional resume or portfolio.

As part of the IPE Passport Program development, the CHHS IPE Office will be piloting an application process [PDF] for coordinators of IPE activities.

The activity coordinators can be faculty, staff and/or students (with a faculty sponsor) who plan activities that:

  • Involve learners from two or more professions/disciplines/programs
  • Include interactivity with other participants and/or speakers
  • Make IPE activity/learning objectives explicit to student participants

If IPE activity coordinators would like their IPE event to be approved and marketed as a CHHS-IPE activity, they can complete and submit the IPE Activity Application to the IPE Office. The Office will also assist in student registration, tracking student participation and providing event evaluation tools. The goal is to make this process efficient for IPE activity coordinators and clearly connect the event with the IPE competencies.
