Biography

How and why did you get involved in IPE?
Having worked as both a nurse and nurse practitioner in community/public health, I was fortunate to have had great experiences with interprofessional education and collaboration. After joining Eastern Michigan University, I was then fortunate enough to be able to work with many different health professions faculty on various interprofessional education projects.

What do you believe are the benefits?
The benefits of interprofessional education are numerous. Students can benefit from the shared
experiences and perspectives of varying health professions faculty and students, which can also increase their preparedness for collaborating with different types of health professionals once they are working in their careers.

What has been the most memorable experience or highlight of teaching IPE so far?
The most memorable experiences so far include working with health education faculty to provide
interprofessional education to health professions students, working with other health professions faculty
to provide interprofessional education regarding COVID-19 to health professions students, and
conducting an interprofessional education needs assessment with health professions faculty and
interprofessional education leaders in an effort to provide health professions faculty with what they need
to participate in and successfully teach interprofessional education.
