The Workshop for Community+Collaboration is a Ypsilanti-based coalition which seeks to work in collaboration with groups/orgs/agencies that address children and family needs between the home and the school. Our goal is to use our collective resources and skills in collaboration with partners to service educational and community needs.
The Workshop seeks to become both a service-oriented group and center-like site for community partners, EMU COE faculty, and students to engage in dialogue, provide courses, and conduct research with partners, a space to collectively dream about and tinker toward a more equitable community with responding to community and educational need – human flourishing – as the goal.
The Workshop for Community+Collaboration operates from a collaborative and participatory model that is emergent. It operates on the understanding that a deep culture needs to be fostered such that leadership can be assumed by any of The Workshop’s collaborators. This is a value and goal that engenders trust among community partners in the durability of The Workshop vision.
