Recipient of Outstanding Senior Award

 

Weevern Gong

Weevern is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Eastern Michigan University after completing two associate’s degrees from Washtenaw Community College. Her previous experience in the field includes working as a computer consultant and serving as the Digital Editor for the student newspaper at Washtenaw Community College. She has worked as an undergraduate teaching assistant in EMU's Computer Science Department, and she is also involved in the Women In Computer Science Club at EMU and wants to reach out to more students in the department and beyond to help develop the university's Computer Science community.

Salvador Medina-Ruiz

Salvador Medina-Ruiz is majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Creative Writing. While at EMU, he has assisted in several creative projects both in Computer Science and Creative Writing. In his free time, he codes personal projects in Python and Java and enjoys writing memoirs and comic books.

Mohammad Arjamand Ali

Mohammad, a sophomore at EMU, is originally from Pakistan. He is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics as a double major. Mohammad works as a grader with the Department of Computer Science and is also actively involved in research in the field of Deep Learning.

Nicholas Repp

Nicholas Repp is a junior at Eastern earning his bachelor’s in Secondary Education - Mathematics. Nick has wanted to be a teacher as long as he could remember, and always knew that he wanted to help students learn math. Having graduated from Woodhaven High School where he played football and baseball, he also hopes to coach at the high school level. Nick has enjoyed his experiences at Eastern and learned not only how to become an effective teacher, but also what it means to be part of a community. Nick is in his third year as a supervisor at the REC/IM on campus, and he credits working and living on campus with helping him to experience all that Eastern has to offer. After taking Computing & Social Responsibility, Nick hopes to use information from copyright laws and privacy concerns to how to cite information properly in his future career as a teacher.

Nivethaa Ravichandran

NIvethaa is a master’s student in Computer Science. During her academic career, she has been passionate about exploring the intersections of computer science with fields such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Her research interests primarily revolve around developing novel algorithms that can help solve real world problems in a practical and efficient manner. Nivethaa has enjoyed the opportunity to work on several exciting projects during her time at the university, which have allowed her to grow and develop her skills as a programmer.
