The EMU College in Prison Program supports incarcerated students earning a Bachelor in General Studies (BGS) degree, allowing them to explore their passions and goals while building on their previous educational experience. CiP offers courses from various academic departments that carry the same academic rigor as their main campus counterpart. All instruction is done in-person by EMU faculty - their classrooms located inside Women's Huron Valley Correctional Facility. Educational opportunities while incarcerated are proven to be the most effective intervention against recidivism in the US - with fewer than 5% of those earning a Bachelor's degree returning to prison.

"The CiP program is a blessing to me. I have no idea if I would've changed my outlook on life without the encouragement from instructors opening my eyes to realize my full potential. I now know my purpose and who I am destined to be!" -CiP Student
