Parking

We advise that you plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled exam time to find parking and walk to Boone Hall. We do not advise using parking meters, as they are limited to 2 hours. Test-takers may not be permitted to leave the testing area to address meter-related issues. Some exams do not allow testers to leave the building until the exam is complete. The City parking meters are monitored regularly and tickets will be issued for lapsed meters.

Campus Pay Parking Lots

  • The closest guest parking lot is the Pease Pay Lot (located next to Pease Auditorium) 522 College Place, Ypsilanti, MI 48197.
    • Cost: $2 per hour, with a maximum of $16 for the full day.
    • Payment: Surface pay lots accept credit cards only.
    • If the Pease Pay Lot is full, we recommend the McKenny Pay Lot at 712 Oakwood St., Ypsilanti, MI 48197.
  • Please note: Parking on campus in an unauthorized parking lot with result in a citation. The EMU Testing and Certification Center cannot assist with parking violations. 

City Parking

  • There are parking meters on College Place, W. Cross St., N. Normal St. and Perrin St; all meters are enforced by the City of Ypsilanti. There is also a parking lot at 310 Ballard St, Ypsilanti MI 48197.
    • Cost: 75 cents per hour, with a two hour limit. Ballard lot is free, with a two hour limit.
    • Payment: Meters accept coins. Meters with a digital display utilize the Passport app, where you can also pay with a credit card.

    • There is a bus stop directly in front of Boone Hall. If you are using the bus, please give yourself enough time to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled exam time.

  • From US-23 (North - or Southbound) Expand dropdown
    1. Exit at eastbound Washtenaw Avenue (exit at the 37A turnoff to Ypsilanti and the sign for EMU)
    2. Remain on Washtenaw for 2.5 miles
    3. At N. Normal St. stay to the left and merge onto Emmet St.
    4. At the first stop sign, College Place, turn left
    5. Continue straight, the Pease Paid Parking Lot is on your right
  • From I-94 Eastbound Expand dropdown
    1. Exit at the Huron Street Exit (Exit 183 to downtown Ypsilanti and the sign for EMU)
    2. At the light, turn left; remain on Huron Street for 1.5 miles, crossing Michigan Avenue
    3. Go for four blocks and turn left at Cross Street, using the curving left-turn lane; if you miss the left hand turn lane, turn left at the stop sign
    4. Remain on Cross Street for approximately one mile
    5. Get in the right lane
    6. At College Place turn right (Boone Hall is the building directly in front of you on the right hand side on the hill)
    7. Continue straight, the Pease Paid Parking Lot is on your right 
  • From I-94 Westbound Expand dropdown
    1. Exit at Huron Street Exit (Exit 183 to downtown Ypsilanti and the sign for EMU)
    2. On the exit, veer to the right-hand lane marked Huron Street N. Ypsilanti
    3. Remain on Huron Street for one mile, crossing Michigan Avenue
    4. Go for four blocks and turn left at Cross Street, using the curving left-turn lane; if you miss the left hand lane, turn left at the stop sign and remain on Cross Street for approximately one mile
    5. Get in the right lane
    6. At College Place turn right (Boone Hall is the building directly in front of you on the right hand side on the hill)
    7. Continue straight, the Pease Paid Parking Lot is on your right
  • From Michigan Avenue Westbound Expand dropdown
    1. In downtown Ypsilanti turn right on Huron Street
    2. Go for four blocks and turn left at Cross Street, using the curving left-turn lane; if you miss the left hand lane, turn left at the stop sign and remain on Cross Street for approximately one mile
    3. Get in the right lane
    4. At College Place turn right (Boone Hall is the building directly in front of you on the right hand side on the hill)
    5. Continue straight, the Pease Paid Parking Lot is on your right
