Featured Graduates

Amber Schmitt '17

Amber transferred from Schoolcraft College. Being an Honors student, her thesis examined the effects of yoga interventions on the motor skills of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Amber received the highest grade in the intro to neuroscience course and was a supplemental instruction leader for the course.  “The program was challenging but allowed me to truly experience neuroscience and not just study it,” said Amber.

Amber will be starting the physical therapy doctorate program at Oakland University in Fall 2018 where she plans to pursue the degree with a post-graduate certificate in orthopedic manual therapy.

The NSCI program co-directors Dr. Renee Lajiness-O'Neill, (psychology), Dr. Hedeel Guy-Evans, (chemistry) and Program Administrator Dr. Marianne Laporte, (biology) and all NSCI faculty and affiliates are proud of Amber as she provides an exemplary lead to follow for the rest of our students. Amber is a rising star and we expect nothing short of excellence in her future accomplishments.
