College to Career
A M.S. in construction management develops your leadership skills and prepares you for upper-level management positions. With this degree, you can work for specialty trade contractors like plumbers, heating or electrical contractors, engineering, architectural or construction management service firms, local governments, real estate developers or educational institutions. Or be your own boss. 57% of construction managers were self-employed in 2012 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
- A minimum 2.7 GPA (or equivalent) in your undergraduate degree
- Transcripts from non-U.S. institutions are equated into the 4.0 GPA system
- A personal statement
- Must have completed an undergraduate degree in a construction-related discipline, (i.e. construction technology, civil engineering, architecture, etc.) Your degree should include college-level courses covering construction fundamentals, estimating, scheduling, construction technology, contracts and construction management.
- Meet admission requirements for the Graduate School
If you don't have a related bachelor degree or background in construction, you should consider the graduate certificate in construction as appropriate preparation. The 18 credit hours of graduate-level courses completed for the CCNS are directly transferable to the MSCM degree.
