The Rec/IM works closely with students and other valuable resources toward the common University goals of unity, student development, and overall excellence in higher education.

    The Eagle Nutrition Services (ENS) offers a variety of services aimed at improving overall health and restoring or maintaining vitality. Come check out our office and learn about our individual nutrition counseling, nutrient analysis, body composition testing, and more! ENS is coordinated by junior and senior dietetic students under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian (RD) and offers services at prices that make it possible for everyone to lead a healthy lifestyle.
  • Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Expand dropdown
    Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is dedicated to addressing the mental health needs of students at Eastern Michigan University. Our caring staff provides free counseling using a short-term model. CAPS also serves the EMU community by providing educational workshops, outreaches, consultation to faculty and staff, and training to graduate students in the mental health professions.

    The Health Center provides high quality, accessible, affordable health care for Eastern Michigan University students, faculty and staff. In addition, the Health Center offers a licensed pharmacy to provide quality service to EMU students, staff, faculty and immediate dependents.

    The Counseling Training Clinic within the College of Education at Eastern Michigan University (EMU) offers personal and family mental health counseling. They also offer career assessment and academic counseling that taps into your potential and builds upon your strengths and the strengths of your support systems. Services are provided to individuals, couples, families and children. The Speech and Hearing Clinic offers a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic services to children and adults of all ages.

    The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Resource Center provides a comprehensive range of education, information and advocacy services. Stop by the LGBT Resource Center for event information, class resources, volunteer opportunities, books and DVD's or just to chat with our student staff. We strive to maintain an open and supportive environment for all. Our events and services are intended for all EMU staff and students.

    We are a place where women can be seen, heard, and believed. The WRC's physical space and all events are for trans and cis women; women of color; (dis)abled women; and women of any faith, socioeconomic status, body type, age, national origin, and sexual orientation. Often in our society and in our world, women do not have a safe place to go where their thoughts, opinions, and feelings are respected and valued. Here at EMU, we are that place. Although we are a women's center, we provide a platform for creativity, discovery, and growth for all people. Men and trans-identified students, faculty, and staff are welcomed and encouraged to participate in our activities, opportunities, resources, and services.

    The Community Behavioral Health Clinic is a teaching facility operated by the EMU Department of Psychology. The clinic aims to provide convenient and affordable psychological services to area residents. A broad range of behavioral, emotional, cognitive, developmental, lifespan, health related, family-of-origin and interpersonal issues can be addressed. Therapeutic approaches utilized by clinic supervisors include behavioral, cognitive-behavioral (including ACT and DBT approaches), family systems, insight oriented, interpersonal, feminist and psychodynamic orientations.
  • Center of Race & Ethnicity (CORE) Expand dropdown
    The mission of the Center of Race & Ethnicity is to cultivate and model a safe, inclusive, and socially just environment for all members of the Eastern Michigan community. We do this by celebrating historically underrepresented populations and providing opportunities for cultural exploration, dialogue, personal reflection, student organization advising and leadership development. We empower students to explore social change through examining the interconnectedness of culture and identity, educating themselves and engaging others.

    The University Writing Center (UWC) provides writing support through one-to-one consulting, online writing consulting for select programs, and workshops. We serve all members of the EMU community- undergraduate and graduate students, international students, post-baccalaureate students, and faculty.

    The Holman Success Center supports the prosperity of students in several ways including drop-in tutoring, study table and peer mentoring. They also offer academic workshops, supplemental instruction and individualized success coaching.

    The APC offers point-of-need help with research, writing, and technology to students working on research papers and other academic projects. University Writing Center consultants, Halle Librarians, and technology assistants work together in the Center to provide project-oriented support. Although students are a primary audience, the facility and its services are open to the entire EMU community.

    The Math Tutoring Center provides free drop-in math tutoring during all hours of operation. They can assist you with specific math homework problems or concepts, studying for math placement exams or the GRE and GMAT. They also provide computer access for math homework and studying, calculators and even textbooks for many of EMU’s math courses.

    Our mission is to provide high-quality early childhood education programs for the children of EMU students, faculty, staff and surrounding communities. We provide high-quality care and education for children 18 months through 6 years. A full day program is available for toddlers and full and half day programs are available for preschoolers.

    VISION, or more formally known as Volunteers Incorporating Service Into Our Neighborhoods, is dedicated to helping students, as well as staff, become actively engaged in service. It is our goal to address global and local issues and meet community needs. VISION is a great resource to help you meet your LBC requirement, earn pre-student teaching hours, become involved in the EMU community, and meet other wonderful people.

    The Office of the Ombuds serves as a resource for students regarding any complaint, grievance or appeal that may be academic or non-academic in nature. When working with our office, you will receive timely, objective and strategic information in a confidential manner to assist with the interpretation of policies and procedures. The Ombuds works directly with students, faculty, and staff, providing consultation related to university policies and procedures. It has established itself as an objective, non-biased operation that continues to work towards developing a fair and equitable university community.

    Money and finances can be one of the greatest challenges facing college students and their families. Navigating the financial aid process can also be a confusing and intimidating process. Fortunately, the financial aid office is here to help. Service EMU staff can assist you with financial aid, student business services, and records and registration inquiries. Come visit us in 268 Student Center or 240 McKenny Hall.
  • Swoops Food Pantry Expand dropdown
    Food insecurity is one of the largest challenges facing college students today. Swoops Food Pantry helps address this issue within our EMU community by providing food to students who need it. To shop at the pantry, you must currently be enrolled at Eastern Michigan University and will be required to show your current class schedule. You can shop twice a month but can access the pantry a third time during the month if an emergency occurs. We all need help sometimes so please take advantage of this resource when you need it.
