Transfer Scholarships

Eastern Michigan University awards a variety of scholarships to incoming transfer students. All Transfer Scholarships require a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and 30 transferable credits from a regionally accredited institution. All Transfer Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis based upon GPA, number of transferable credits, and date of application file completion.

Regents Scholarship
Type: Competitive
Amount: $3,000
Requirements:

  • Enroll in 15 hours each semester by June 1 for Fall semester and December 1 for Winter semester
  • Maintain a 3.5 EMU GPA and meet SAP*
  • Maximum of 6 semesters of eligibility

Recognition of Excellence Scholarship
Type: Competitive
Amount: $2,000
Requirements:

  • Enroll in 12 hours each semester by June 1 for Fall semester and December 1 for Winter semester
  • Maintain a 3.3 EMU GPA and meet SAP*
  • Maximum of 6 semesters of eligibility

Transfer Scholarship
Type: Competitive
Amount: $1,000
Requirements:

  • Enroll in 12 hours/ semester for full award by June 1 for Fall semester and December 1 for Winter semester
  • Will prorate for 1/2 and 3/4 time
  • One year award

National Scholars Program
Type: Automatic Consideration
Amount: $15,600 (2013-2014 difference between resident and non-resident tuition)
Requirements:

  • 2.75 cumulative GPA and at least 30 transferable college credits from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Non-resident admission status
  • Domestic and international students

Note: Award pays the difference between out-of-state and in-state tuition for qualified students. Students from Michigan and Ohio pay in-state tuition and are not eligible for this award.

Come Home to Eastern - Come Home to Michigan Award
Type: Automatic Consideration
Amount: $15,600 (2013-2014 difference between resident and non-resident tuition)

Requirement: Child of EMU alumnus (including step or adopted children) and resident of a state outside of Michigan and Ohio.
Note: Additional verification is needed to determine award eligibility.

*SAP = Satisfactory Academic Progress: Requires that students earn passing grades in a minimum of 67% of the credit hours they take. Grades of W, I, N, NC or repeated classes are not "earned."
**Formula to determine the maximum number of semesters of scholarship payment:
Semesters of Eligibility: 124 - transfer hours = X ÷ 15 = # of semesters (round up)
Example: 124 - 67 transfer hours = 57 ÷ 15 = 3.8 semesters (rounded up to 4 semesters)
