Sandy Pernecky became a registered dietitian in 1987, has been teaching in some capacity since 1988, and started teaching as an Adjunct Lecturer at EMU in 2004.  She was promoted to Lecturer III in the Dietetics and Human Nutrition Programs in 2019.

Her current work includes Dietetics Program co-directing, advising, and preparing distance and on campus dietetics intent students.  Her current teaching course load mainly consists of Food and Culture and Community Nutrition Experience classes. Previously, she worked for over a decade in hospitals, clinics, and a variety of community settings, where interprofessional collaboration is key.
