Sandy Pernecky became a registered dietitian (RD) in 1987, has been teaching in some capacity since 1988, and started teaching as an Adjunct Lecturer at EMU in 2004. She was promoted to Lecturer III in the Dietetics and Human Nutrition Programs in 2019. In 2024, she became a Senior Lecturer.
Her current work includes Dietetics Program co-directing, lecturing, and advising & preparing distance and on campus dietetics intent students for eligibility to apply to the EMU CP. Her current teaching course load mainly consists of Food and Culture, Careers in Nutrition and Dietetics, Community Nutrition and Community Nutrition Experience classes. Previously, she worked for over a decade in hospitals, clinics, and a variety of community settings, where interprofessional collaboration is key.
