Important Dates

  • Jan. 13, 2021: start of Winter 2021 semester
  • Jan. 20, 2021: last day to add classes via the web
  • Jan. 29, 2021: last day to drop for 100% tuition refund (15 wk term)
  • April 20, 2021: last day to withdraw - No Refund (15 wk term)

The College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) Advising Center is for admitted undergraduate students who are interested in an undergraduate major or minor in CHHS. CHHS is one of the largest colleges at the university, offering a variety of majors and minors. As a student at Eastern Michigan University you are strongly encouraged to meet with a CHHS advisor each semester to maintain your progress the in the general education program and to begin to develop your major program of study.


The health and wellbeing of our students and staff is our top priority. In accordance with the university’s recommendations for maintaining social distancing, the CHHS Advising Center will be meeting your needs virtually until further notice. Our physical office space will be closed to foot traffic.

  • Advising Appointments

    CHHS Advisors meet with admitted undergraduate students in CHHS majors and minors. The Office of Admissions can help you if you have questions about attending and/or transferring to Eastern Michigan University.

    Due to health and safety precautions, all advising appointments will be done over the phone or virtually via zoom until further notice. CHHS Advising Staff are not available to meet face to face in their office location.

    • In order to schedule an appointment you must be admitted to EMU and have an EID number.
    • For all appointments, we ask that you are on a computer or tablet and logged in to your emich account, and are prepared to take notes either electronically or with a pen and paper.
    • Advising appointments typically take 30 minutes.

  • Virtual Drop-In Advising

    Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9–11 a.m. and 2–4 p.m when classes are in session.

    Drop-In Advising is for:
    • Admitted EMU Students
    • Assistance with reading your Gen Ed Audit
    • Questions about a pre-requisite for a specific course
    • Starfish concerns
    • Assistance with withdrawing from a course
    • Questions about who to contact if you are changing your major
    Drop-In Advising is not for:
    • Questions about being admitted to EMU
    • Major specific questions
    • Questions about filling out a second admit application
    • Creating your schedule for next semester
    • Creating a 4 year plan

  • Second Bachelor Students

    If you are a newly admitted Second Bachelor Student, please do not schedule an appointment with our office.

    Please email [email protected] with the following information:

    • Your name
    • Your EID number
    • The major you have been admitted for and are requesting advising for

    We will respond to your email within 5-7 business days and provide you with a program of study, detailed next steps, major specific information, and registration instructions.

  • ATI TEAS Test

    The CHHS Advising Center does not schedule the TEAS Test for Nursing Intent students and does not have access to the testing schedule. Scheduling and study guides can be found at ATI Testing. Problems with scheduling the test can be directed to the EMU Testing & Certification Center
  • Directions

    The CHHS Advising Office in 214 Marshall is not currently available for face to face advising. All advising is taking place over the phone or virtually via zoom.
