Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA Scan):Client getting DEXA scan

The DEXA scan is considered to be the "Gold Standard" in body composition testing and provides the most accurate results possible to date.  This full body x-ray scan only takes about 10 minutes to perform and provides information such as bone mineral density, total body fat percentage, and lean body mass. The test provides detailed information on individual sections and extremities of the body for comparison.

To learn more, see our DEXA flyer [pdf].  To schedule a DEXA scan, visit our                 ENS appointment scheduling page.  Those  looking to make changes to their body composition are encouraged to schedule a "DEXA Scan plus Nutrition Counseling" package, which includes a one hour session with a Registered Dietitian.

To ensure the most accurate test possible please refrain from wearing any clothing, jewelry, or accessories (belt buckles, watches) that contain metal.  We recommend wearing gym clothes or a similar outfit.

Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA):

To ensure the most accurate test possible please refrain from:

  • Eating within 4 hours prior to testing.
  • Consuming coffee or other caffeinated beverages on test day.
  • Intensive exercise within 2 hours of testing.
  • Alcohol consumption within 24 hours of testing.
