Clinical Manual
The EMU PA program didactic curriculum provides students with a plethora of information, skills and simulated patient interactions to prepare them for the clinical curriculum portion of the program. The clinical curriculum offers students an opportunity to transition from the classroom to clinical practice via full-time clinical rotations under the supervision and guidance of medical providers in their area of expertise. The clinical rotations are an exciting, demanding, enriching and rewarding experience that prepares each student to become a certified physician assistant.
The EMU PA program clinical manual is a guide to the clinical year which clearly provides rules and regulations related to clinical rotations. Each clinical rotation also has a separate syllabus detailing the specific goals, expected learning outcomes, objectives, assignments, evaluations and grading plan.

About Clinical Rotations
Supervised clinical practice experiences in the form of clinical rotations provide critical learning experiences to students. After completing the didactic year, students complete nine clinical rotations and a clinical preceptorship. Clinical rotations are conducted in medical offices, hospitals and outpatient centers under the supervision and guidance of clinical preceptors who are PAs, physicians or other licensed healthcare providers.*
*Students are not required to provide or solicit sites or preceptors. This does not imply that students cannot identify potential preceptors from their original geographic region.
CME Credit
Eastern Michigan University has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit to eligible PA preceptors. Approval is valid from 8/22/2022 to 8/16/2024. AAPA reference number: CME-207645. PAs may earn a maximum of 20 AAPA Category 1 CME credits for clinical precepting during any single calendar year.
