Engage@EMU acts as connector and convener between the university and communities we partner with, as well as being present and engaged in various university initiatives.

Carnegie Classification
How We Started.
The Carnegie Classification recognizes higher education's commitment to community engagement. Eastern Michigan University received the Carnegie Classification in Community Engagement in 2008.

Engage cultivates connections and collaborations between the University (faculty, staff and students) and nonprofits, municipalities, schools, and individuals.
NERCHE assists in the management of the Next Generation Engagement project designed to develop and implement civic engagement initiatives aimed at the next generation of students, faculty and scholars in higher education.

Community Resource Guide
At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic we created a spreadsheet listing a vast variety of community resources. That spreadsheet has now evolved into an updated community resource guide that is available to you. The completion of this resource guide could not have been possible without the assistance of so many organizations whose names may not all be enumerated. Their services and information are sincerely appreciated and gratefully acknowledged.
