Environmental Science Concentration

As the name implies, its focus is on training future scientists in the environmental field.

Careers that are open to those with a B.S. in Environmental Science include hydrologist, environmental biologist, environmental chemist, water quality analyst, hazardous materials manager and many more.

A technician position can usually be obtained with a bachelor's degree; relevant work experience or grad school is recommended for you to be competitive for professional scientist positions.

Environment and Society Concentration

This concentration's focus after the common core is on how people interact with the environment and how they try to mange environmental issues through management, policy or laws. Total credit hours in this concentration after the common core: 30.

Career tracks for those with a B.S. degree in Environment and Society may include working for an environmental NGO (non-governmental organization), sustainability manager for a local government, environmental lawyer (after law school, of course), and many more.

If, early in your studies, you are unsure which concentration you want to pursue, it is advisable to choose those required core classes that allow you to be flexible in your choice later.
