Elections for the 2023-2024 School Year
Monday, March 7: Email from University Communications to all students announcing that they can run for senate or for president/ vice president.
Tuesday, March 8 (8 p.m.): Optional candidate meeting for all candidates considering seeking office. This includes candidates for the President/Vice President and Senate. The meeting will occur in room 342 in the Student Center. If anyone is unable to attend, the Election Commissioner will be available Monday, March 14 (2 p.m.) on Zoom.
Friday, March 18 (11:59 p.m.): Deadline for candidates to submit applications and petition signatures to appear on the ballot to run for office. President/Vice President tickets and Senate candidates must submit the form with the required signatures by this deadline. Students may obtain an application at the Student Government website. Referendum proposals will also be due.
Tuesday, March 22 (6:00 p.m.) Any proposed referendum has to be voted during the senate meeting. If no referendum is passed there will be no referendum. If one is passed, it will appear on the election ballot.
Thursday, March 24: Email from University Communications to all students announcing the election & candidates (including website of candidates if time permits to develop a website).
Sunday, March 27 (11:59 p.m.): Deadline for candidates to submit applications to run as a write-in candidate (the names of write-in candidates will not appear on the ballot). Signatures are still required for write-in candidates.
Tuesday, March 29 (5 p.m.): Deadline for submitting campaign finance receipts to the Election Commissioner.
Wednesday, March 30 (8 a.m.): Online voting begins (students will receive information via email about how to vote online). All registered students may vote.
9:00 a.m.: Email from University Communications to all students announcing the election is open (including website of candidates if time permits to develop a website).
Thursday, March 31 (8 p.m.): Online voting ends. Results will be sent out once the votes have been counted.
Saturday, April 2 (8p.m.): Deadline for filing grievances against a candidate.
