Visiting Scholar

Vesna Kondrič Horvat comes from Slovenia and is a Professor of German Literature at the University of Maribor. She has been a Visiting Professor at universities in Jena (D), Leipzig (D), Graz (A), Wrocław (PL), Bergen (N), Usti nad Labem (CZ), in Atlanta (GA) and is currently a Visiting Professor at EMU.

As a scholar her main research interests are 20th Century Literature in German – especially Swiss Literature in German – Women’s Literature, Literary Didactics, Children’s and Youth Literature, German Studies as Cultural Studies, Intercultural Literature, as well as Transcultural and Transnational approaches. She researches and publishes articles and books in the area of German, Swiss, Austrian and Luxemburgian literature. Her most recent co-edited book published in English is entitled: Engendering Difference: Sexism, Power and Politics (2018), together with Michelle Gadpaille and Victor Kennedy.

So far she has attended conferences in Milwaukee (WI), Pittsburgh (PA), San Diego (CA), Arlington (VA), Oakland (CA), St. Paul (MN), Denver (CO), Kansas City (MO), Atlanta (GA) and is attending the conference in Portland in Oktober 2019.
