LEAD Awards Recognition
EMU's Masters of Science in Human Resources and Organizational Development (MSHROD) recently received grand prize recognition in the 2021 LEAD Awards. The program was ranked first globally in the category of “Master’s Programs with Emphasis in Human Resources.” The LEAD Awards are sponsored by HR.com, the largest global social networking and resource site for HR Professionals. The organization recognizes "courses and programs that improve leadership and organizational development," and the 2021 awards were presented during HR.com's virtual Human Experience Summit in February. EMU's BBA-Management Major/HR Concentration was also ranked first in the category of “Diploma Program with Emphasis on HR.”
Eastern Michigan University’s graduate HR programs have been recognized as among the best in the country by Intelligent.com for 2020! The Master of Science in Human Resource Management and Organizational Development was ranked 37th in the nation, while the online Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management ranked 10th best in the United States by the student-focused comprehensive research guide. Intelligent.com considered metrics such as curriculum quality, graduation rate, reputation, post-graduate employment, student engagement, potential return on investment, and third-party evaluations in the assessment and scoring methodology.
Dr. Fraya Wagner-Marsh, SHRM-SCP, GPHR, SPHR, and coordinator of graduate HR programs at EMU shared her excitement for this honor by stating, “I am pleased for EMU’s Graduate HR Programs to receive this newest recognition of their quality. These programs have a great reputation among employers in the Midwest and have been singled out by companies as the place to go to find knowledgeable HR professionals who understand human resources as well as organizational development. Our students understand basic HR and OD theories as well as the application of these theories to the real world of business.”
Intelligent.com estimates that demand for human resources specialists will increase by 7% over the next ten years with a median annual salary well above that for the rest jobs of the work force. The United States needs more employees credentialed in the field of Human Resources Management to support projections, and EMU is an excellent institution to begin that path.
