Arrive early to allow extra time for the entrance screening process. Students should not bring coats, purses, selfie sticks, or other personal items into the staging area or arena.

Please review the Health and Safety protocols (4th tab on this page) that will be in place for Commencement. It is important to understand the bag policy, mask policy, and metal detector screening policy before arriving at the George Gervin GameAbove Center.

Each ceremony is expected to last approximately two hours.

Visit your my.emich account, choose the “Student” tab, click the “Student Full Menu” link on the Student Academic Services Card, choose the "Student Records" link, and then click the “Apply to Graduate” link and complete the steps. You will be notified by the Office of Records and Registration when your application and file has been audited.

This step must be done in order for a degree to be granted, regardless of whether you plan to participate in the ceremony. In order for your name to appear in commencement materials, you must Apply to Graduate by March 1, 2024. Any questions about the status of your graduation application should be directed to [email protected].

The Commencement Ceremony will be livestreamed from the George Gervin GameAbove Center. The livestream will be available on both the Commencement website's homepage as well as the EMU YouTube Channel.  The livestream link will be available at the beginning of the ceremony.

All graduates, guests, participants, and staff will be subject to a metal detector screening upon entry to the George Gervin GameAbove Center. Arrive early to allow ample time for the screening process. Everyone will place wallets, phones, keys, and all other items into bins during the screening process, and metal detectors and wands will be used.

Mask Policy: At this time, we expect masks to be optional for graduates, guests, and participants. However, if Washtenaw County experiences an unexpected surge of COVID-19 cases, our mask protocol may change prior to the ceremonies. Should that happen, an update will be posted here on the website and an email will be sent to ticket holders.

We encourage families to leave some space between themselves and other families, if possible. As a community that supports diversity, inclusion, and mutual respect, we ask that all graduates, guests, and participants be respected for their personal choices regarding masks to ensure that we can successfully celebrate the accomplishments of our graduates on this very special day.
