We are pleased to announce that EMU will hold an in-person Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. This ceremony will be for students who have an active application to graduate in December 2022.
Graduates from ALL colleges -- the College of Arts & Sciences, Individualized Studies, College of Business, College of Education, GameAbove College of Engineering & Technology, and the College of Health & Human Services -- will participate in the 9:30 a.m. ceremony. Graduates should arrive no later than 8:30 a.m.
Visit your my.emich account, choose the “Student” tab, choose the “Student Records” link, and then click the “Apply to Graduate” link and complete the steps. You will be notified by the Office of Records and Registration when your application and file has been audited. This step must be done in order for a degree to be granted, regardless of whether you plan to participate in the ceremony. In order for your name to appear in the digital commencement program, you must Apply to Graduate by November 1, 2022.
To participate in the December Commencement ceremony, each graduate must have an active application, will be required to have a student ticket, and must wear approved EMU academic regalia.
The ceremony will be held at the George Gervin GameAbove Center, which is located 799. N. Hewitt, Ypsilanti, MI 48197. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to accommodate the demand for parking and potential traffic delays. Doors open one hour before the ceremony. The ceremony typically lasts about two hours.
See the Information for Graduates page to learn more.
Each graduate will also be eligible to receive six tickets for guests. No additional tickets for guests will be available. See the Tickets page for information about tickets for the ceremonies.
If a graduate requires special assistance to participate in the ceremony, please email your request to [email protected].
At this time, we expect masks to be optional for graduates, guests, and participants. However, if Washtenaw County experiences an unexpected surge of COVID-19 cases, our mask protocol may change prior to the ceremony. Should that happen, an update will be posted here on the website.
We encourage families to leave some space between themselves and other families, if possible. As a community that supports diversity, inclusion, and mutual respect, we ask that all graduates, guests, and participants be respected for their personal choices to ensure that we can successfully celebrate the accomplishments of our graduates on this very special day.
Congratulate them, cheer them on or offer advice by sending a message through our family and friends celebration page. It’s easy and can be done from your computer or phone. Learn more about how to post a message.
