News, Events & Seminars

The Department of Biology is committed to promoting equity, inclusion, and diversity. We embrace the evidence that a diverse scholarly community stimulates scientific innovation and educational excellence.

We are pleased to announce a new biology major beginning in fall 2018. The new major includes concentrations in:

  • Cellular & Molecular Biology
  • Ecology, Organismal Diversity & Evolution
  • Microbiology
  • Physiology
  • General Biology

All biology majors will take a core set of classes in biology, chemistry, and math. The additional requirements and electives within each concentration are tailored to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed within the sub-discipline of biology that will enable them to move on to graduate school, professional school or directly into the scientific workforce. We recommend that students considering the new biology major seek advising. Students who need overrides into summer or fall courses may fill out our student request for an EMU Biology or Neuroscience course override form. To request a CRN for a research course, fill out theĀ research course request form.
