Is commencement the same as graduation?
No. Graduation is a process in which a student verifies with the University that all applicable credit hours toward a degree have been completed up to the University-given standards in order to receive the official degree. Commencement refers only to the ceremony celebrating the completion of a degree and does not always correlate with an official graduation.
