Machine Shop
Our large modern Machine Shop.
The Physics and Astronomy Department has both a large main shop and student "Maker's Space" that offer machining and technical support for department faculty and student projects. The main shop houses:
- Haas TM-3P CNC 4-axis computer controlled mill
- Bridgeport vertical mill and metal lathe w/ encoders
- Jet 20" band saw, Jet cut-off saw, belt sander
- MIG and arc welding station
- 2'x4' precision surface plate
- workbench plus a variety of:
- cutters
- metal bender and shear
- grinders
- fastener bins
- drill presses
- CAD computer workstation with 50-inch HD monitor
The Maker's Space has:
- carbon fiber, powder-based 3D printers
- Trotec Speedy 360 laser cutter/engraver
- South Bend lathe
- 3'x3' precision surface plate
- smaller band saw and coping saw
- drill press
- workbench
- electronics workstation
