Since 1986, Professional Programs and Training (PPAT) has provided practical, process-based training in occupational safety, health and compliance for multiple industries. Now partnered with the University of Cincinnati and the UAW Health and Safety Department to form the Great Lakes OSHA Education Center, PPAT offers OSHA numbered courses at Eastern Michigan University and locations throughout Region V.

Safety and Health Associate (SHA)
Designed for safety professionals at all levels, or those who are transitioning into a safety role, participants can earn a Safety and Health Associate (SHA) certificate after successfully completing a minimum of seven (7) courses, comprised of a minimum of 68 contact hours of training.
Safety and Health Professional (SHP)
Designed for safety professionals at all levels, participants can earn a Safety and Health Professional certificate after successfully completing a minimum of six (6) courses, comprised of a minimum of 118 contact hours of training. This program can be completed entirely online.
Safety and Health Specialist (SHS)
Designed for safety professionals with at least five years of occupational safety and health experience in either construction or general industry, participants can earn a Specialist in Occupational Safety and Health certificate after successfully completing a minimum of nine (9) courses, comprised of a minimum of 135 contact hours of training.
Safety and Health Fundamentals
A national OTI Education Center program, this certificate is designed for safety professionals at all levels. Participants can earn a Safety and Health Fundamentals certificate after successfully completing a minimum of seven (7) courses, comprised of a minimum of 68 contact hours of training.
