Jeff graduated from the University of Michigan in 2001 with a B.A. in psychology.  He attained an M.A. in clinical psychology from Wheaton College Graduate School in 2005.  While attending law school, Jeff interned with Justice Robert P. Young, Jr. at the Michigan Supreme Court.  He attained his J.D. from the Michigan State University College of Law in 2010.

Interests and Expertise

Before joining the Legal Affairs group at EMU, Jeff practiced law for almost eight years at Dickinson Wright PLLC.  Jeff practiced primarily in the education law practice group while at Dickinson Wright.  During that time, he served clients in the K-12 and higher education environments, gaining a wealth of experience working with public school academies, their management companies and authorizers.  Jeff worked on a variety of legal matters for his education clients, ranging from labor and employment issues to board governance and policy issues.

Additional Information

Jeff serves as legal counsel for the Charter Schools group at EMU, providing legal advice in a variety of areas relevant to the operation of charter schools in Michigan.  As Associate General Counsel for the University, he also provides legal services to the EMU community as a whole.  Jeff enjoys spending his free time with his wife and four young children.
