Dustin Miller
Biography
Dustin is thrilled to be back at his alma mater and applying his degree in EMU's School of Communication, Media and Theatre Arts where he serves as the Technical Director of the Theatre Department. His current position includes:
- Oversee and manage over Scenic Studio operations
- Provide hands-on training for students in the field of Entertainment Design & Technology
- Liaison between all areas of Technical Theatre during productions
- Promote and support the Design Expo at the annual Undergraduate Symposium
- Design for productions in the areas of Lighting, Projections, Sound, Scenery, Properties & more
- Provide technical support for departmental equipment & procedures
- Enforce safe operational standards and practices set forth in the EMU Theatre Handbook.
Dustin is an award nominated lighting designer, ETC Certified Technician as well as a frequent partner and designer with state and national theatres, convention centers and other venues. He has worked with TLS Productions, Inc. from 2014-2019 creating their education department, working on national tours, local events and installations as well as with Gasser Bush Associates from 2019-2020 as a salesperson for Acuity Brand and Electronic Theatre Controls equipment, training & installations. His work in the corporate world as well as in the local and national theatre circuits has earned him & his various colleagues in the industry recognition in BroadwayWorld Detroit Regional Theatre Awards, Parnelli Awards & Live Design Awards.
