Dr. Elton received her Ph.D. in health communication from Purdue University, her MA in intercultural communication from University of Denver, and her BA in English from the University of Nevada, Reno. Her areas of expertise include cultural constructions of health, women's health issues, and end of life decisions. She also spent two years working for the Emergency Communication Branch at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia, where she conducted research on media messages related to public health emergencies and helped coordinate research projects examining emergency preparedness. Dr. Elton has presented her research at international, national, and regional conferences, and she is currently working on several journal articles.
