[email protected] | 734.487.8413

Shannon Hawkins Jr. is a first-year student in the Master’s Social Work. He is from Muskegon, Michigan and Shannon is a first-generation college graduate. He graduated from Eastern Michigan University this past April and has spent the majority of his time in college working for Housing and Residence Life. His biggest experience would be his time working for the Making Youth Matter program for his Social Work field placement this past year. His role with the program was to mentor middle schoolers. In this position, Shannon was able to instruct, guide, and provide support to middle schoolers throughout their first academic year impacted by COVID-19. He has a deep interest in helping others and helping youth is his passion. He aspires to be a School Social Worker to be able to reach youth during their most impressionable stages in efforts to leave a positive impact on them for the rest of their lives. He looks forward to seeing what he can learn as he works with EMU students.
