Please follow these steps to submit a course to be considered for inclusion in the General Education program.

Submit a General Education proposal using Curriculog (emich.curriculog.com). Please find additional information, including user guides at emich.edu/cpd.

Proposals for GEEC, GEQR, GEUS, GEGA, GEKA, GEKH, GEKN, or GEKS follow these steps:

  1. Submission of a proposal by a faculty member
  2. Review and approval from relevant department committees, as outlined in department input documents
  3. Department Head/School Director
  4. Faculty Council (Not required by all colleges)
  5. College Dean
  6. Course and Program Development Office
  7. Vetting Committee
  8. Director of General Education
  9. Provost’s Office

Proposals for Writing Intensive (GEWI) follow these steps:

  1. Submission of a proposal by a faculty member
  2. Review and approval from relevant department committees, as outlined in department input documents.
  3. Department Head/School Director
  4. Faculty Council (Not required by all colleges)
  5. College Dean
  6. Course and Program Development Office
  7. Writing Intensive Committee
  8. Director of Campus and Community Writing
  9. Director of General Education
  10. Provost’s Office

Proposals for Learning Beyond the Classroom (GELB) follow these steps:

  1. Submission of a proposal by a faculty member
  2. Review and approval from relevant department committees, as outlined in department input documents.
  3. Department Head/School Director
  4. Faculty Council (Not required by all colleges)
  5. College Dean
  6. Course and Program Development Office
  7. Learning Beyond the Classroom Committee
  8. Director of General Education
  9. Provost’s Office
