Success Coaching
HSC is offering in-person and virtual Success Coaching appointments.
Holman success coaches are professional, full-time staff and graduate assistants who:
- Are personal trainers for college
- Have experience meeting with students
- Assist you in creating a personalized academic plan, including setting short- and long-term goals
- Can help you learn to arrange and prioritize your academic life
- Can connect you to other services when needed
- Can demonstrate 'how-to-study' techniques
- Offer one-on-one skill-building workshops
Why You Should Meet with a Success Coach
Meeting with a success coach is an excellent way to get you on track academically and personalize your education. We assist students in navigating the University system, as well as assisting in tracking progress toward both academic and personal goals. If you need a hand in developing a plan of action to tackle academic challenges and attain personal achievement, we are here to help!

My experience with the Holman Success Center has been unmatched in its utility and profundity. When I met with my success coach, Alexandra Kubiak, I was almost down and out entirely. However, we discussed the basic building blocks for creating a strong semester. Things like organization, time management, and attendance were some of the weaker aspects of my college career. These life skills are transferable directly to my day to day, and my future career goals. Once Alex and I figured out what I was lacking, and why, we began to develop a tailored solution for me. This took into account my job, my current grades, my overall GPA, my post-grad goals, and even my personality and inability to focus. Through consistent meetings, goal setting, application of said goals, and persistent work, I managed to complete a total of 5 classes with 4 A’s and a B+. I am proud of myself and of the work I put in. I am also grateful for having Alex as my mentor and success coach. Honestly, this past year has been life changing, eye opening, and most certainly educational all thanks to the brilliance of Alex.

Jenna Royle, Graduate Assistant and Success Coach - MICUP
Jenna is a Michigan native; she earned her bachelor's in behavioral psychology from Western Michigan University in 2022 and is working towards her master's in clinical psychology. She transferred to Western from Saginaw Valley State University, where she was studying elementary education. Jenna is interested in psychological assessment, specifically in forensic settings or with individuals in the justice system and is passionate about getting individuals connected with the resources they need to be successful in their reintegration and improve their overall well-being.
Jenna is available to help transfer students navigate their transition to EMU and connect them with any resources that might aid their success. Students can schedule a meeting with her and work through specific problems, make reasonable goals, discuss steps to achieve them, or even just chat about how they are feeling.
Caitlin Mahoney, Graduate Assistant and Success Coach
Caitlin Mahoney earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Dayton in 2022. She is currently pursuing her Master's of Science in General Clinical Psychology here at Eastern Michigan University. Before starting graduate school at EMU, Caitlin has worked in ABA therapy, psychiatric facilities, and administering educational tests to students. She is passionate about supporting student's mental health in order to improve their livelihood and success in education.
When not busy working on her studies or at the Holman Center, Caitlin enjoys artistic pursuits, specifically sewing, photography, and needle arts, and spending time with her animals.
Andrea Kelly, Graduate Assistant and Success Coach
Andrea is a Success Coach for the Holman Success Center. Andrea graduated from Michigan State University in 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She is currently in the College Counseling program at Eastern Michigan University. Before coming to Eastern, Andrea spent two years in AmeriCorps working as a nutrition educator and assisting first-generation college students with the college application process. In her free time, she loves reading, going for walks, and trying new restaurants and coffee shops. Andrea is passionate about working with college students and excited to help them discover their strengths and meet their goals.
Aly Wojtylko, Graduate Assistant and Success Coach
Aly is a Success Coach for the Holman Success Center. In 2021, she received her bachelor's degree in Children and Families from Eastern Michigan University. She is currently working towards her master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Before becoming a Success Coach, she worked as a Peer Academic Coach for the Holman Success Center, where she would meet with students and work with them on finding ways to be successful in their undergrad experience. Her overall goal as a Success Coach is to ensure that students are creating and reaching achievable goals.
Rachel Barry, Graduate Assistant and Success Coach
I am a Graduate Success Coach for the Holman Success Center. I am currently earning my Masters in Clinical Mental Health. I earned my BS in Integrated Neuroscience from Binghamton University in New York, which is where I am from. I love to travel, be outdoors, and read in my free time. I look forward to meeting with you and helping you reach your goals to be successful in your college journey!
Kim Jones, Success Coach
Kimberly Jones has earned her master's in educational leadership: higher education student affairs (HESA), a graduate certificate in higher education: academic advising, a bachelor's degree in psychology, and a bachelor's in literature; all from Eastern Michigan University. Kim has spent over 10 years working with the EMU Alumni Association and has spent the past two years as the Eastern Michigan University Black Alumni Association (EMUBA) president. Kim is dedicated to helping students achieve their academic and professional goals in life while maintaining a fun and engaged work-life balance. In her spare time, Kim is a devoted mother to her children and works on the board of her high school alumni association.
