Contribute to Our Endowed Scholarships:

The Department of Women's and Gender Studies offers multiple scholarships each year. More information about these awards is available on our scholarships page.

We would like to increase the size of these awards for our students. Please consider making a donation to the EMU Foundation to support our scholarships and awards:

• Margaret M. Smith Endowed Scholarship for the Advancement of Women
  Supports students who demonstrate a commitment to the advancement of women.  Financial need may be a preferred factor.
• Distinguished Leaders of Women's Studies Endowed Scholarship
  Supports academic excellence by WGST Majors and MA students engaged in research and/or service, who demonstrate outstanding leadership.
• Seetoo Endowed Scholarship for Global Engagement and Travel
  Supports student research and travel for global engagement.
• Starkweather Award
• Honors an outstanding woman from the local community who advocates for social justice issues and demonstrates traits of generosity, selflessness, progressiveness and risk-taking.
• Endowed Women's Studies Development Fund
  Supports student travel to conferences and hosting visiting scholars and guest lecturers.
• Olga Madar Lectureship for the Empowerment of Women
  Supports scholarly lectures on women, leadership, and participatory democracy.

Contribute to Our Outstanding Student Research Paper Funds:

• Margaret Rossiter and Donald Drummond Fund
  Supports outstanding undergraduate and graduate student papers in Women's and Gender Studies.
• Lloyd-Russell Fund
  Supports outstanding undergraduate or graduate student papers on Gender or Sexuality. 
• Christy Rishoi Fund
  Supports outstanding undergraduate student papers in women's and gender studies and literature.
