Campus Climate Assessment and Action
The EMU Diversity Campus Climate Assessment began in October 2019. This initiative, called Diversity in Action, consisted of a random cross-section survey of students, faculty and staff, and a series of town hall meetings and focus groups designed to give a platform to the unique voices on our campus.
UPDATE: The survey closed at midnight on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
Thank you to the EMU community and everyone who participated in the survey. Our response rates outperformed many of our peer institutions by double digits! The overall participation was heartwarming and shows how important this initiative is for EMU.
We will be presenting preliminary results and discussing patterns during the MLK academic program sessions on Jan. 20, 2020. We will also be presenting the full report and holding a Town Hall at the end of February. We will announce more communication plans as they are finalized.
UPDATE: Preliminary data is now available.
"Campus climate touches the core of our basic need to feel connected to the places where we work, learn, lead and serve. As president, I am committed to advancing a coordinated effort to increase diversity, equity and inclusion on Eastern's campus. To facilitate this goal, a Campus Climate Assessment Committee will conduct a University-wide assessment--work that will help to identify our areas of strength as well as our areas for improvement as we work to enrich the daily reality of students, faculty and staff at EMU."
