KCP 4S 4 Success
Welcome to the 4S 4 Success Program at Eastern Michigan University! In partnership with the STate of Michigan's Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, we are proud to offer dedicated support for students navigating the transition from high school to college and working toward academic success.
This program evolved from the former EMU Edge program: a four-year academic support initiative designed to guide students from high school through to graduation. While the EMU Edge program has been phased out, 4S 4 Success continues to serve the same dedicated group of students, offering tailored resources to help you overcome obstacles and achieve your higher education goals.
4S 4 Success is specifically tailored for students who have experienced academic hurdles or financial challenges, and it aims to increase graduation and persistance toward degree by helping students achieve academic excellence and personal growth. We are excited to support you every step of the way, from your first semester to your graduation day!
Program Eligibility
- You much be a Michigan Resident
- You must meet at least one of the following criteria to be be eligible to participate in the 4S 4 Success Program:
- Have a H.S. GPA below a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Be eligible to receive any amount from the federal pell grant as part of your final aid package
- Have received either an IEP or 504 during your K-12 academic career and will request accommodations at the college level

Participation Guidelines
Students in the 4S 4 Success program have specific guidelines to meet in their first semester.
- Register for UNIV 101L3 in the Fall semester
- Meet with their Success Coach and Peer Academic Coach (PAC) alternating bi-weekly (6+ meetings over the course of a 15-week semester, 30 minutes each)
- Complete a total of 10 hours of structured study time each week of the term, which may include
- Eagle Study Tables (check in and out)
- Skill Workshops (1-1.5 hours)
- Math Tutoring Center in Pray Harrold (request to scan in and out)
- Tutoring (check in and out)
- Supplemental Instruction (1 hour, your professor will tell you if SI is available for your course)
- University Writing Center (request to scan in and out)
Structured Study guidelines for the second semester are individualized to the student's fall performance.
These guidelines for services help students learn to become self-regulated learners and hold themselves accountable for their own academic performance. These are the behaviors that create successful students, and establishing these habits early is key to student persistence and progress to graduation.
