When is EMU Connect?
EMU Connect is the second part of the Orientation process at EMU. Connect is a series of events held over the last weekend before the Fall semester begins.
For 2024, EMU Connect will be on Friday, August 23rd, Saturday, August 24th, and Sunday, August 25th.
Is EMU Connect mandatory?
YES! EMU Connect is MANDATORY for all incoming first year students!
I'm a commuter. Do I have to attend EMU Connect?
EMU Connect is for ALL first year students, including commuter students. Check out our commuter-specific program on Friday, August 23rd!
What do we do at EMU Connect?

Can family and guests come along with me during Connect?
Can my parents/partner/siblings attend EMU Connect with me?
The first day of EMU Connect does have certain events (such as the family picnic/picnic in the park) where family and guests are welcome to attend. The second and third days of EMU Connect will be for students only. The connect weekend is an opportunity for the students to get acquainted with EMU’s campus, resources, and any additional information or questions students may have in an environment with their peers.
Is Connect the same as SOAR; How are they different?
I already attended SOAR. Do I still have to attend EMU Connect?SOAR and EMU Connect are different programs. Both programs are mandatory for first year students to attend.
SOAR is step 1 of the Orientation process where first year students starting at EMU in a Fall semester will meet their academic advisor and register for their first semester of classes.
EMU Connect is our three-day orientation for new incoming students. During Connect, activities and events are centered around students building connections with the university, available resources, and fellow studnets.
