EMU’s Office of Study Abroad offers a variety of programs including semester/year programs and intensive languages. EMU faculty-led programs are offered over winter break, winter intersession and summer. Students may apply all financial aid and scholarships (unless restricted) to official EMU programs. Many programs are open to students from any university.
Academic Programs Abroad is the Study Abroad Office and a division of the Center for Global Engagement at Eastern Michigan University. We are committed to providing diverse global learning opportunities that encourage intellectual growth and intercultural development through experiential learning, exposure to new perspectives, meaningful encounters with difference and self-reflection. We develop and administer programs with EMU academic units and faculty as well as with partners across the globe, ensuring a high standard of safety and accessibility.
Manager, Program Development
Kristen manages the Academic Programs Abroad office and advises students for semester/year study abroad programs and intensive language programs. She has worked in adult education for over thirty years with nearly twenty years in higher education, including fifteen years of teaching at a community college. Although she has traveled to many parts of the world, as a student she worked full time to support herself and was not able to study abroad. Thus, her passion is creating affordable long and short term program options for students in similar situations.
