EMU’s Division of Information Technology provides the Web Services team with an area in their support ticket system, which allows you to request help when maintaining your website. Through support tickets, our team members can more efficiently respond to requests. Support tickets also house all pieces of a request in one spot. The use of this system allows us to better-gauge our workload and staffing to meet support needs. You can make this process even more efficient by knowing when and how to submit a support request.
When to Submit a Support Request
There are specific tasks that the Web Services team retains responsibility for, such as updating your top or left navigation, building a landing page, or changing a banner image. Maybe you’re experiencing an issue or need access to an additional site. For any of these circumstances, you would submit a support request. For any other situations, read our how-tos before submitting a support request.
How to Submit a Support Request
A complete and detailed support request streamlines our support efforts. Once you know the steps, submitting a support request is easy.
- Go to the Web Services catalog.
- Choose from our three services. Most requests will be for Web Services. Click the link for the service you need.
- Click the Request Service button in the upper right.
- Fill in the form, making sure to change the title from “Web Support” to something more specific to your request, for example “Add to Navigation”, “Change Banner Image”, etc.
- Be as descriptive as possible and share any screenshots or documents as necessary. Make sure to include the web addresses (URLs) of all pages or existing documents you reference. This is a very important step as it helps us to more efficiently complete your request.
- Click Submit.
- Once you have submitted your request, someone from Web Services will be assigned and reach out to you for more information or to let you know it has been completed.
