  • Hosted one cohort (five university administrators) from the first set of Iraqi scholars to study in the US through the "Fulbright Iraqi Visiting Scholars Exchange Program". This program was innovative in terms of coordinating five research projects around international university accreditation/reform processes based on institutional-level data collection and analysis.
  • Facilitated the development of the research and assessment component of an advanced certification system (NBPTS) for K–12 teachers, including the alignment of performance standards, authentic performance-based assessments/portfolios, holistic scoring systems, and feedback strategies. This system was analyzed against appropriate validity, reliability and equity criteria.
  • Developed an evaluation plan for a statewide systemic reform initiative (integrating mathematics and science instruction using educational technology), including implementing a new statewide performance assessment system with associated teacher in‑service assessment workshops, evaluation strategies for curricular and staff development projects, and an integrated state telecommunications network system (with two-way interactive teleconferences as well as the use of computer conferencing linking universities, schools and community).
  • Developed a cutting-edge integrated relational database, drawing from state and national sources to support program evaluation for schools across Michigan. This system was integral as schools shifted from an "input-based" to "outcome-based" accreditation/program evaluation system with a new emphasis on authentic performance assessments.
  • Developed online and blended courses (including parts of the first fully online Master's program in educational leadership at EMU). These courses were innovative in terms integrating service learning through asynchronous and synchronous online activities.
