Student Teaching
All candidates for recommendation of certification as a teacher are required to complete a student teaching placement in the area of their academic preparation and at the level for which certification is being sought. Students in elementary, secondary, and K-12 programs are required to complete, successfully, up to 12 semester hours of student teaching.
Students in special education areas (emotionally impaired, hearing impaired, cognitive impaired, physically or otherwise health impaired, and visually impaired) are required to fulfill up to 6 semester hours of student teaching in general education and an additional 10 semester hours of student teaching in their area of specialization.
Students desiring certification in early childhood education are required to fulfill up to 8 semester hours of student teaching at the elementary level and an additional 4 semester hours of student teaching at the pre-kindergarten level.
