Biography

Dr. Jennifer Barreto is an Assistant Professor in the College of Education at Eastern Michigan University, where she teaches courses in educational psychology within the Department of Teacher Education. Her research focuses on culturally relevant pedagogy, ethnic/racial identity development with young Latinx adolescents, and bilingual/multimodal literacy. She brings experience as a Latina, first generation college student, and a former K-12 educator in Florida and Spain. She is passionate about preparing future teachers to support diverse learners through evidence-based psychological practices and a critical global lens.
