Biography

Rotesa Baker received her Bachelors of Science degree from Florida State University majoring in Psychology and Rehabilitation Services in 1994. After working with adolescents at a residential facility following graduation, Ms. Baker decided to further her clinical knowledge and was accepted into the Masters of Arts Counseling Program at Eastern Michigan University, with a concentration in community counseling. Since receiving her Master's in 1998, she has several years experience working with individuals in a human service capacity in educational and community settings as it relates to developing therapeutic relationships and guiding individuals in the field of human services. Ms. Baker has also served as an instructor in a middle school, implementing classroom guidance exercises/modules pertaining to conflict resolution, problem-solving/ decision making, and other educational and developmental objectives. Additionally, she served as a counselor at St. John's Hospital-Macomb Weight Loss Institute facilitating group counseling on wellness modalities.

Ms. Baker is employed full-time as the Director of Programs at Wayne Center, providing services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Other clinical experiences include past employment at Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit and Oakland Psychological Clinic, providing individual, family, and couple counseling. Rotesa has been employed as a faculty advisor at the University of Phoenix-Metro Detroit Campus in the College of Social Sciences and served as a practicum supervisor. She has assisted her supervisees in a myriad of clinical domains including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma and family reunification. Ms. Baker is currently an adjunct faculty member at Eastern Michigan University, Grand Canyon University, Oakland University and has served as an adjunct at the University of Detroit-Mercy and University of Phoenix-Metro Detroit Campus. Rotesa Baker is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Michigan, a National Certified Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor and serves as a member on the Michigan Board of Counseling. Rotesa has been providing clinical supervision since 2005 in both educational and professional settings. She is a member of the Michigan Counseling Association, Michigan Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, American Counseling Association, Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, Eastern Michigan University Counseling Department Advisory Board and the National Association of Professional Women.
