EMU economics experience

"I spent two years as a student and graduate assistant in Eastern Michigan’s Masters of Applied Economics program. The time I spent at EMU shaped me from a procrastinating undergraduate to a hardworking graduate student. This transformation was due largely in part to the dedicated faculty at EMU. The small program feel that the masters program provides results in opportunities to develop relationships and work closely with your professors, which is not as easy at many larger schools, and the staff is always more than willing to help. They always pushed me to do well in my coursework and were very invested in my success as well as my fellow classmate’s success. I was recently accepted to the University of Oregon’s Economics Ph.D. program, and my success is a result of the support provided by a number of professors in the department throughout the application process. I am confident that my coursework and research training received at EMU has prepared me to handle the rigors of my Ph.D. program. After I obtain my Ph.D., I plan on becoming a professor at a reputable research university. My time at Eastern has been thoroughly enjoyable and has put me on the right track to achieve my goals."
