Centers and Institutes
Eastern Michigan University encourages the development and operation of organized research units as Centers and Institutes where it has the capacity and provides a unique contribution or service. Centers and Institutes complement the educational mission of the University and focus on demonstrated needs through interdisciplinary and problem focused research. Governed by Board Policy 2.4: Creation and Operation of Centers and Institutes, Centers and Institutes also promote and facilitate collaboration with external partners, including industry, and attract external funding. The Associate Vice Provost and Assistant Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research administers the University’s Center and Institute Procedure.
EMU’s current Centers and Institutes offer a wide variety of expertise ranging from GIS research and education, to children, families and communities, to bio-based and other advanced coatings and textiles.
