COVID-19: Access to Campus Laboratories for Critical Infrastructure Employees Expand dropdownDue to the Governor’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order and the Washtenaw Health Department’s Emergency Order, EMU is required to identify “critical infrastructure employees” and to provide a screening process for said employees when they perform their critical on-campus duties. In order to comply, EMU is restricting access to on-campus research laboratories. All EMU faculty and research teams are asked to complete this Google Form in order to identify essential laboratory processes that should remain in standby mode during this time of interruption and to identify who will perform essential tasks. After reviewing the form, your College Dean and the Provost may approve access to your laboratory to perform the essential tasks. If so, the employee will receive a document that authorizes their presence in the laboratory.

Funding Expand dropdownORDA provides a variety of tools, resources and workshops to find possible funding opportunities that support research, scholarly, and creative activity. In addition to providing proprietary tools, this section provides links to open-source search sites like grants.gov, the official funding portal for the federal government. We’ve also included a Sponsor Guide that provides general background information about the types of sponsors, how you might select an appropriate sponsor, and other information that is important to identifying a source of funding for your project.
Additionally, ORDA staff can assist you by conducting a funding search for your project.
Funding Search Tools
There are several tools to assist you in finding possible funding opportunities to support research, scholarly, and creative activity. Some are proprietary tools provided by ORDA, and others are open-source search sites:
- SPIN and SMARTS: InfoEd's SPIN enables EMU faculty and staff to directly search for all sponsored programs contained in the InfoEd database. SMARTS lets you establish a personal profile with key words that are match daily to newly released funding opportunities. The results are sent to your emich.edu as they issue.
- Michigan Department of Education grants: Michigan Department of Education provides information about the grants it administers, and maintains, and posts an updated list of grant funding search resources for education.
- Foundation Center and Foundation Directory Online: The Foundation Center provides a number of resources to identify potential sponsors and for writing grant proposals to private foundations. To use the Foundation Directory Online, please contact your Pre-Award Officer for assistance with your search as EMU has a limited access license.
- Grant Resource Center (GRC) Search Engine: Eastern Michigan University is no longer a member of The Grant Resource Center. Please contact ORDA for any assistance you may need.
